Any idea when ath5k or ath9k will support the AR chip on 64 bit OSs? While the driver makes detect the hardware it is not presented as a wireless network adapter.

Actually, kernel updates don’t actually break the drivers. When you get “Hardware didn’t respond as expected” it’s a sign that you have some other driver that tried to initialize the chipset and atyeros. Support is already included in the latest stable Kernel Release 2. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
